Today the board is planed, the use of which in construction has found the widest distribution, occupies probably the most leading position among all lumber. To be surprised at this fact is not worth it. Planed board is the most high-quality and up-to-date lumber from all natural wood materials presented in the construction market. This sawn timber is characterized by high ecological purity, which allows its use for decorating interiors, while it is possible to secure the arrangement even of children's rooms.
The planed board is an extremely convenient material, the application of which is so wide that it is not easy to find a sphere in which it is not used. It is quite often seen as elements of facing the walls (internal or external), finishing the ceilings, while constructing the fence. In addition, it is often used for making various decorative elements and even furniture.
It should be noted that this material has a very presentable appearance, which persists for a long time even in conditions of frequently changing weather. At the same time, it is ideal for domestic work to use a dry board, and outdoor use is better to use products with normal humidity.
Dry planed board
First of all, it should be mentioned that the planed dry board is used much more often than the planed products of normal humidity. Its use is possible in virtually any construction industry, carpentry and even furniture industry.
The most common use of planed board was found in the construction of floors. The flooring of this material is environmentally friendly, demonstrates excellent strength and thermal insulation properties. In addition, various interior elements are constructed from it:
- overlapping, etc.
The undoubted advantage of a dry planed board is its ability to practically not change its parameters, although exposure to high temperature or humidity can somewhat deform it. That is why the elements of the interiors created from this material are extremely resistant to deformations, cracking or rotting. All such products have an effective appearance, and almost do not grow dull. The optimum moisture level is about 10%.
Of course, the material with normal humidity is more affordable, but wood of this quality is subject to shrinkage, and products from it can deteriorate. That is why the board planed dry is almost indispensable material for furniture production (cabinet and soft). In addition, it is often made of:
- windows and doors;
- arbours and verandas;
- garden furniture;
- yachts and elements of finishing of ships.
Advantages of dry material
Today, the edged edged board has a thickness of 2 to 5 cm and a width in the range of 10 to 20 cm. The standard length of such a board is 6 m. However, according to agreement with the customer, the dimensions of the board can be practically any. All such products have two edges with processed planing of two or more surfaces.
Such material can be produced in several types:
- with an even surface, are obtained by planing, but the surface is not perfectly smooth;
- with perfectly smooth surfaces;
- Impregnated board, in the production of which there is treatment with special antiseptic drugs.
All measures used in the production process are aimed at giving the material quality characteristics that are its undoubted merit. Among these characteristics: the highest strength, reliability, excellent resilience, resistance to cracking, resistance to decay, lack of surface hairiness, excellent heat and sound insulation, environmental friendliness, a decent appearance.
Production of a planed dry board
The planed dry board is usually produced in several stages, the first of which is to obtain a conventional edging board by woodworking. The resulting products must be sized to meet the established standards, in accordance with which the material is selected for further processing.
For the production of the second stage, special equipment is necessary, through which the dried board is forced to dry to the required humidity. This process can last up to 10 days, depending on the type of wood used and its size.
In the third stage, the products are stripped off, after which they are placed in dry sheltered warehouses, or sealed. In some cases, another one is added, an intermediate stage, during which impregnation of products with special preparations occurs.
Choosing a planed board
Like any other material, the planed board is divided into grades. Concerning this particular material, grades depend on the presence of resin pockets, knots and some other errors, which determines the possibility of using them in various industries. For example, for the creation of beautiful furniture is usually used radially-filled material with textured annual rings. By the way, such material is never covered with paints, it can only be varnished or covered with wax to emphasize the texture. Board of the first or second grade can be used for the construction of fences, stairs or other similar products.
It should be borne in mind that the price of this material is affected not only by its grade. The price can vary considerably depending on the breed of wood used or its humidity. Usually, the production uses spruce, pine or linden, oak or maple is more expensive and less common. Treated antiseptic boards are also somewhat more expensive.
